I suppose I should start this post by explaining the last one right?. The gravestone post with Flopidle written all over it. That post came from a ball of frustration with me trying to make it in the internet marketing niche. I always seem to take the hardest road to travel.
The Wrong Direction
I love blogging here at Flop Idle and over the last few months have really focused most of my energy into it. But even though I was enjoying it my serious goal behind it was to make money from blogging at this site. With the eventual idea of making it possible to become a full time blogging internet marketer.
But internet marketing is a HARDDDDDD niche to crack, and at the time I felt like I was spending more time with the blogging side of things, and not enough with the marketing side, so something had to change.
I tried to sell things on this blog and also to my list, but with no real results after the work that went into it. Then I looked at my situation in internet marketing and compared it to the visitors to this blog.
If I was getting fed up of all the emails and blog posts trying to sell something in this niche, I could only imagine what everyone else was feeling. I get email after email of promo’s and offers, welcome to internet marketing right!?. I found myself getting tired of it all, and at the same time realizing that their was no way I could compete with that, or even wanted too.
A New Direction
I thought long and hard about what I wanted, and where I wanted to take this blog. I even thought about giving it up altogether, but then after all this effort I put into it their was no way I could do that.
But I also could not depend on this blog to feed my cats either;). I first starting this blog to chart my journey through internet marketing, but because I spent a lot of time on this blog, it took over from my other projects at that time.
I want to bring this blog back to as it was when it first started, a daily journal of each effort I make in internet marketing, but not in the internet marketing niche!!, oh no, I’ve learned a lesson with this already.
Getting A Sign
So not only did I learn that the internet marketing and make money online niche’s were almost impossible to break in to, I also learned that the techniques we use in internet marketing are seen as cutting edge in other less tech-savvy niches.
For instance, a while back I created another blog in a totally unrelated niche. I set it up with an email list and a couple of posts, and also listed a couple of affiliate offers then I left it, or even forgot about it while I was concentrating on this blog.
Anyway I checked into an affiliate account and discovered that I made a couple of sales!, and all this after not touching it for months!. I couldn’t believe it, I was working my a$$ off in internet marketing spending hours a day trying to break into this niche, and all the while an old project I was not even updating had made a couple of sales!.
I heard a voice in my head say “Why market to the over-marketed!!”?.
If I use the same techniques that I use for this blog on a completely unrelated niche, my results should be 100% better than what I have now. It’s already working in another area, so why not concentrate on that some more?.
Flopidle Not Dead
I’m not going to end Flopidle!, i’m just going to bring it back to what it was in the first place. Besides part of me still wants to see how far I can push my luck in the internet marketing niche.:)
But I need to get out into other areas again to see how things work out their. It will be interesting to see how much Ive learned from being burned in the internet marketing niche. Hopefully I can make a nice cool splash in another niche.
For obvious reasons I can’t reveal which niches ill be working in, but I can give you a run down of what i’m trying and how i’m doing in them. Hopefully I can start to make some revenue from them so before long I can get my hands on a shiny new Apple Imac;), now that would be nice.
To commemorate this change in direction I created a new header for this blog, with the slogan “internet marketing freestyle”, meaning that the projects I try from now on are completely ad lib.
