Google Insights

Google Insights is keyword research on steroids!, its such a powerful tool to use whenever your involved researching keyword ideas, and its definitely one of my favorite tools to use while I check up on niche keyword ideas.

Insights is simple at heart, but so powerful its easy to overlook the results returned to you, basically you enter your keyword phrase/search term in that very simple looking search box, and it returns to you several sections of amazing information based on your term, its almost like having a plate of different chunks of cake right in front of your face, you just have no idea where to start!, it all looks good!!;).

The first section you get to eat is.,, I mean look at is “Interest Over Time”, this gives you a neat graph showing you the popularity of your phrase over a set amount of time, the default is 2004 – present, but this can be adjusted as easy as a belt after a big meal, you can select anything from the last 12 months to the past 7 days, and the graph adjusts accordingly.

Other sections on the results page are regional interest which you guessed it, shows you the areas where the most popular searchers are searching for that term, not only do you get a listings of countries, but also you get a birds eye view of the planet to represent the most popular countries searching also, and again, adding more power to Insights you get the chance to search by City too, this maybe very useful if you need to target a specific place in a PPC campaign.

Under the regions results are two more great sections to pull information from, you have Top Searches, which are the top search term keywords related to your main phrase with a bar that represents search traffic, you can target these terms as additional keywords for your main phrase, and sometimes you can pick up some long tail keywords from this section too.

Last but not least we have the Rising Searches, these are the latest rising search terms related to your main phrase, this is represented by a percentage of popularity, so you can find anything from +10% upon your term all the way up to what they call “Breakout”, these are the terms that are in hot demand right now!!, blog post idea anyone;), using this method gave me a great idea for a new blog post related to my niche, and as I knew it was a breakout term, I knew it would be pretty popular too;).

Google Insights allows you to really customize it so much more than I could go into in this post, but the best thing to do is just play around with it, change filter terms and see what you can come up with, sometimes you even end up changing your original keyword because you find something allot more promising to use, or sometimes it just confirms what you thought about your keyword in the first place, but you also come away with additional information to target that you never had before.

I can’t recommend Google Insights enough, whatever your niche, whatever your keywords, there is information there for the taking, and Insight helps you to get it, not even my own doctor is that helpful!!.
