Sales Page Checkup – Dont lose Those Sales

If you’re sick you go to a doctor and have them test to find out what the problem is right? But what if your sales page is sick and you had no idea! This post came to mind after an embarrassing event that took place with my first ever sales page.

My first ever sales page was for a 28 page guide I created called the Twitter Technique. I designed and coded the site myself hoping that it would hit the Twitter hungry crowd just at the right time, but unfortunately I let one important thing passed me.

I failed to give my sales page a full check up! What I mean by that is I failed to thoroughly test the page out, and im not saying the checkout part of the site, that was fully functional and working correctly. What i’m referring to was how the sales page looked if visitors did not have the same browser as me!

## Different Browsers Could Display Your Site Differently ##

The reason I found this out was not because I checked it after! Oh no, that would have been too obvious! I found out because I tracked the keyword “The Twitter Technique” on Twitter, and discovered a comment like…

“Hey, have you seen how badly The Twitter Technique displays in IE(Internet Explorer).”

I rushed over to take a look for myself and was horrified! It was awful. The text was all over the place, pictures were missing, it looked like a hurricane had hit it! And worst of all, you had to side scroll to even get to the BUY BUTTON! I’ve seen shorter piers!

The Solution And Cure To My Madness

Here is what I do now all the time on any sales page, and also any niche blogs! Think, if you don’t you maybe losing sales and visitors and you may have no idea!

STEP ONE: Visit http://browsershots.org

STEP TWO: Enter Your Domain Name Into The Enter URL Here Box.

STEP THREE: Under the search box you will see a big list of browser names with check boxes next to them. Click on  the browsers you want to have your site checked in, you can do them all if you want.

STEP FOUR: Click submit next to your domain and wait for the results to come back. If you checked a lot of results, this may take a while.

What browser shots will now do is go out to each of the browsers, and then take a full screen shot of how your site displays in them. You then get to see a full view of any issues that may be holding your sites back!

You may be surprised!!

TIP FOR OLDER SITES: To grab a good list of browsers to select, head over to your /cpanel and click on the Awstats icon. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you get too….

awbrowsers1

These stats will tell you what browsers are already visiting your sites. To narrow this down to versions click on the Full list/Versions to see even the version numbers of the visiting browsers. Whatever browsers are listed in these stats, you can then enter into your browser-shots selections.

If you do see any imperfections, especially in the most major browsers. Then it might be time to save that leak and correct it asap;)

I hope that helps you avoid what I had to go through. Let me know your results!
