New Affiliate Challenge Update

CB account stats

$11.99 from a sale of The Twitter Technique Thursday gave me my second sale of this week. Still no sales yet related to my articles, but I did managed to get another two subscribers to one of my products landing page. This however raised a problem for me.

How am I going to track what article that subscriber came from?..

The dilemma I have is not being able to track where a subscriber to one of my landing pages came from. This is the scenario, and why I cant track it..

A visitor finds an article I wrote by performing a search in Google. They then like what they read and decide to click on my link contained within that article.

Now that visitor finds themselves at my landing page where they have the option to opt-in, or leave the page forever. If they decide to opt-in and join my mailing list I currently have no way to track which article they came from.

This is probably not a big deal to some, but I really want a way to be able to track exactly what article got that subscriber from the point of an interested searcher, to someone that wanted to opt-in and join my list.

I think I may have to dust off my PHP notes, and program a small script that will be able to let me know the exact URL of the referring page that brought the visitor to my landing page. Of course I would also have to make sure they actually opted in to my list and did not just leave the page and move on.

If you know of a simple program or script that would be able to do this for me, please let me know;)

Working On Linking

I have just under 50 live articles right now which have just under 1000 views shared between them. At least 4 of the articles are getting more views than the others, and I have a few that are struggling to really take off.

What I decided to do was hold off on writing article after article, and instead decided to start building links to my articles in the hope of increasing their Google rankings.

I’ve noticed that a lot of high ranking articles barely have any links, possibly because there author also bounces from one to another just like I have been. So I think if I can start to really concentrate on building links to the articles I already have, I should be able to get ahead of the higher ranking competition for those keywords.

Follow Ups For Three

Currently I have 3 people going through my email follow up sequence I prepared for them;) This is its basic structure….

EMAIL ONE: Welcome message to the new subscriber and delivery of their free content.

EMAIL TWO: Good content related to the product I’m aiming for them to buy, without trying to sell them anything.

EMAIL THREE: Another content email related to the final product. This one includes a very indiscreet affiliate link at the bottom just in case they are ready to buy now.

EMAIL FOUR: The humor email…. In this email I posted a funny video clip related to the final product. For example, if I’m promoting a product related to the guitar, the video would show someone falling off stage, or breaking their guitar. But humor is the key.

EMAIL FIVE: The first email completely focused on the product I want them to buy.

EMAIL SIX: Another non-salesy content email giving them some more value related to the product.

EMAIL SEVEN: This email is again focused on selling them this awesome product.

EMAIL 8/9/10/11/12 – All rotate between great content w/affiliate links, as well as some other humor emails to break up the patterns now and again.

It will be interesting to see how this all works out when I start to get a bigger list built up over time.

Another note to myself – Products w/free content to give away to grab the emails, as well as pre-written follow-up emails regarding the product are going to be placed higher on my affiliate promotable list for the future;)

Oh, remember to use a different clickbank tracking id on your affiliate links within your email sequence. That way you will be able to tell the email that made the sale.
